Surabaya, UIN News Online – The Focus Group Discussion (FGD) of State Religious Universities (PTKN) regarding the Education Hospital at the Double Tree Hotel Surabaya on Tuesday, (02/15/2022) resulted in PTKN's commitment to solving the Covid-19 pandemic problem in Indonesia. In addition to being attended by 28 PTKIN leaders, the FGD was also attended by the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs officials.
Present in the event, Director of Islamic Higher Education Suyitno, Special Expert Staff to the Minister of Religious Affairs Mahmoud Shaltut, and Abdul Aziz from the Directorate General of Education at the Ministry of Religion. Also present in the event, the Rectors who represent UIN and IAIN with the status of a Public Service Agency (BLU).
The affirmation of PTKIN's commitment to resolving the pandemic needs to be followed up with the establishment of Education Hospitals in each PTKIN. In addition to being a research hospital, each of these teaching hospitals can later become a means to handle the COVID-19 pandemic.
In response, the Director of Islamic Higher Education, Suyitno, responded positively and considered that the establishment of an educational hospital within PTKIN was a positive idea for academic and social interests. He himself stated that the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs is ready to facilitate its establishment.
On that occasion, the forum agreed to provide the first opportunity for UIN Jakarta to share its experiences in developing the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Health Sciences and succeeded in having their own Education Hospital. It is known that UIN Jakarta is the first PTKIN in Indonesia to establish a Faculty of Medicine and hospital.
Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis prepared a Master Plan and Strategic Plan for the UIN Jakarta Education Hospital which located at the Hajj Hospital of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta in Pondok Gede, East Jakarta.
“The UIN Jakarta Education Hospital carries out the tridharma function of higher education. In addition, UIN Jakarta Hospital is also characterized by health services for Indonesian Hajj and Umrah pilgrims,” said Rector.
Furthermore, Rector Amany also said that the existence of Education Hospital at PTKIN should get the full attention from its leadership. The hospital management must also be filled with human resources who have a passion in developing clinics and educational hospitals. In addition, they must also have the ability to understand various types of diseases, medical devices, and pharmaceuticals.
“However, we must remember that having a clinic and an educational hospital does not mean it is purely a business, but it is of value for service and human resource development,” said Rector.
In fact, Rector Amany also suggested that the hospital nomenclature at PTKIN be changed to "Rumah Sehat". Referring to the terminology of health care institutions in Arabic called 'musytasfa' which means a healthy place.
Meanwhile, the Dean of FK UIN Jakarta, Hari Hendarto explained that educational hospitals and clinics at PTKIN must have sharia accreditation. This accreditation is in line with the learning objectives at the Faculty of Medicine in preparing Muslim doctors.
Citing the regulations for the establishment of the Main Educational Hospital, Hari explained, Hospitals at PTKIN must have network hospitals in carrying out their duties. This can be done by teaching hospitals by having satellite hospitals in the nearest area.
UIN Jakarta itself, he continued, has a number of health services, namely UIN Jakarta Hajj Hospital (Type B Hospital), Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Hospital (Type C Hospital), and 2 Primary Clinics equivalent to Puskesmas (Community health service) in the Sarua and Buaran areas, South Tangerang, Banten.
