Profil

Profesor Dr. Ahmad Sunawari Long adalah seorang akademisi dan pemikir Islam terkemuka yang saat ini menjabat sebagai Dekan Fakultas Studi Islam, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), sejak tahun 2021. Beliau menyandang gelar profesor (VK7) dalam bidang Filsafat dan Pemikiran Islam. Riwayat pendidikannya yang solid mencakup gelar Doktor (PhD) dari Universiti Malaya, dan dua gelar magister (M.Phil. dan M.A.) dalam bidang Filsafat dari University of Nottingham, Inggris.

Spesialisasi penelitian Profesor Ahmad Sunawari meliputi Filsafat Islam Kontemporer, Filsafat Barat, Epistemologi, dan Studi Masyarakat Muslim. Beliau sangat aktif dalam jejaring intelektual global, antara lain sebagai Presiden International Society of Muslim Philosophers and Theologians (ISOMPT) dan Pendiri serta Pemimpin Redaksi International Journal of Islamic Thought (IJIT) yang terindeks Scopus. Ia juga menjabat sebagai profesor tamu di berbagai universitas, termasuk Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta.

Kepemimpinan dan kontribusinya di tingkat nasional sangat signifikan, antara lain sebagai Anggota Dewan Direktur Darul Quran JAKIM dan Anggota Dewan Dana Wakaf UKM. Beliau juga aktif dalam Dewan Dekan Studi Islam Malaysia dan sebagai pakar penilai jurnal untuk MyCite dan ASEAN Citation Index.

Sebagai peneliti, beliau telah memimpin dan terlibat dalam lebih dari 30 proyek penelitian yang didanai oleh skema nasional seperti FRGS, LRGS, dan berbagai lembaga pemerintah. Fokus penelitiannya mencakup isu-isu seperti moderasi beragama, psikologi Islam, kajian masyarakat urban, penguatan akidah, serta dinamika Islam di Malaysia dan Asia Tenggara.

Produktivitas akademiknya sangat mengesankan, dengan puluhan buku teks (seperti Sejarah Falsafah dan Falsafah Minda), bab buku, dan artikel di jurnal internasional terindeks Scopus dan Web of Science. Beliau juga aktif sebagai pembicara kunci dan presenter di konferensi internasional di berbagai negara seperti
Indonesia, Turki, Taiwan, Yunani, dan Jepang.

Di bidang pengabdian, Profesor Ahmad Sunawari membimbing banyak mahasiswa S1, S2, dan S3, serta aktif dalam kegiatan kemasyarakatan dan pengembangan mahasiswa. Atas dedikasinya, beliau telah menerima berbagai penghargaan, termasuk Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang UKM dan gelar Ahli Setia Negeri Sembilan (ANS).

Dengan kombinasi kepemimpinan akademik, produktivitas penelitian, dan kontribusi luas pada pengembangan pemikiran Islam, Profesor Dr. Ahmad Sunawari Long merupakan salah satu figur intelektual Muslim yang paling dihormati dan berpengaruh di Malaysia dan kawasan Asia Tenggara.
