In response to COVID-19, FIKES UIN Jakarta start to produce hand sanitizer
Rectorate, UIN News Online – As an effort to contribute to the fight against COVID-19, the pharmacy study program, Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) UIN Jakarta t ook the initiative to make hand sanitizers that are in accordance with World Health Organization (WHO) standards. The hand sanitizer was produced at the Fikes Pharmacy Laboratory, while the processing is carried out by the lecturers assisted by a number of students.
“We named the product 'Shihah', which means healthy. Hopefully, with that name, we are all healthy and blessed by Allah SWT,” said the Dean of FIKES UIN Jakarta Zilhadia to UIN News Online on Friday (03/20/2020).
According to Zilhadia, Hand sanitizers and other health products, including facemasks, have becomesought-after commodities in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak in Indonesia. “Even if it's available, the price is quite expensive”, she said.
The academic community of UIN Jakarta itself, she continued, eally needed the product. Therefore, the Pharmacy Laboratory then tries to continue to boost its production. Until this week, FIKES UIN Jakarta has produced more than 1,000 bottles of hand sanitizer and will continue to increase its production as long as the ingredients and packaging are still available on the market.
In the meantime, FIKES UIN Jakarta will not sell these products. This hand sanitizer will be distributed in a limited manner for academics community and local residents around the campus. Because the main purpose of making soap is motivated by the needs of campus residents to prevent the COVID-19 outbreak.
Therefore, after being produced, the Shihah hand sanitizer will be distributed immediately to all UIN Jakarta’s work units, both in the rectorate, faculties, and other supporting institutions.
For information, the Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis briefly distributed the product to the surrounding community when she was conducting an inspection to the campus neighbourhood. (usa/ns)
