FU Offers 4 New Departments
FU Building, UIN News—Faculty of Ushuluddin (FU) of UIN Jakarta is ready to accept students on four new departments in bachelor level, there are Department of al-Quran and Tafsir Studies, Department of Hadith Science, Department of Aqidah and Philosophy of Islam, and Department of Tasawuf Science. Offers made after the operating license issued by the Decree of Director General of Islamic Education, Ministry of Religion of Indonesia No. 3252 Year 2015, September 23rd 2015.
Dean of FU, Prof. Dr. Masri Masrun MA, said peoples’ interest on Islamic studies is rising. The launching of the new fourth departments is an effort of FU to strengthen Islamic studies in perspective of ushuluddin values in UIN Jakarta and Islamic Universities nationally.
“With the wider option of departments, people can learn about Islamic studies in a broader perspective according to their concentration of scientific interest,†he said in FU building, Tuesday (29/09).
He added, the launching of new departments is a form of program development which has been the purpose of the faculty. Department of al-Qur’an and Tafsir Studies, for example, is the expansion of Tafsir Hadith Department. So does, Department of Islamic Philosophy and Aqidah and Department of Tasawuf Studies are the expansion of Philosophy Aqidah Department.
Vice Dean of Academic, Prof. Dr. M. Ikhsan Tanggok M.Si, added, the proposal to added four new departments has been made since the last two years with a revenue target of department can be done in academic year 2015/2016. Preparation for the lecturers and infrastructures are also carried out in the internal of FU. “Because several technological problems, the operational license just released this month,†explain the Professor of Religion Anthropology.
Related to the students acceptance, Ikhsan continued, FU is working on various options. Among them, giving a chance for the new students in academic year 2015/2016 to choose one of the fourth new departments or the acceptance will be conducted in academic year 2016/2017. The whole options will be first discussed with the senates and faculty leaders. Translated by Mahar
