Celebrating the anniversary of RI and UIN, Rector reminded the importance of the taaluf paradigm
NICT, UIN News Online – The rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis reminded the importance of the taalluf paradigm to all academic community of UIN Jakarta. The taalluf paradigm is needed so that the professional performance of the academic community is not only interpreted as routine work, but as part of self-dedication in creating a better human and national life.
This was said by the Rector during Webinar in the context of celebrating the 75th Indonesian Independence and the 63rd Anniversary of ADIA / IAIN / UIN Jakarta at the NICT Building, Tuesday (08/18/2020). The taalluf paradigm, said the Chancellor, was mentioned in the Qur'an, the first verse of the Surah Quraish, referring to one of the characters of the Quraish tribe who were accustomed to working together to solve their social problems.
Amany also said that the term taalluf itself comes from an Arabic word which refers to the meaning of togetherness, connection, equivalence, and harmony. “Ta'alluf, in the Koran, Surah Quraish, mentioned Liilafi Quraish. Here, we can learn from the Quraish tribe that they developed illaf attitudes, joined, gathered, nurtured, tolerated, worked together and cared for each other,” she explained.
The meaning of taalluf itself, she continued, can be interpreted in two contexts, both as academicians and citizens. As part of the academic community, lecturers and researchers who are at the forefront of scientific research development are expected to continue to maximize their scientific contributions to various social problems such as handling the Covid 19 pandemic.
As a university with 12 faculties and 78 study programs, she explained, UIN Jakarta has the scientific capital to accelerate the handling of Covid 19 and its impacts. The Laboratory at the Faculty of Medicine of UIN Jakarta itself is recognized as one of the national laboratories for handling Covid 19.
The Rector also reminded that handling the Covid 19 is not only the task of academics, medical and health practitioners. Covid 19, which has an impact on various social dimensions such as religious understanding, education, and others, requires the attention of all academics.
In line with the 75th anniversary of Indonesian Independence, the Chancellor also reminded the importance of implementing the taalluf paradigm by strengthening UIN Jakarta as the basis for developing a better national-Indonesian life. The educational process in the UIN Jakarta, she explained, must be able to foster an attitude of nationalism, tolerance, and respect. “This is a major part of the educational process,” she explained.
The education process at UIN Jakarta, she continued, must also encourage respect for civil rights and the mandate of the national constitution. UIN Jakarta must also be active in affirming Pancasila as the final philosophy of life of the Indonesian nation. “More importantly, we need to strengthen and implement the values of Pancasila,” she concluded.
