UIN Jakarta Public Relations Content Writers Explore Green Campus Program at Atma Jaya Catholic University

Jakarta, UIN News Online — In an effort to broaden their understanding of sustainable campus programs, the Content Writer team from the Public Information and Communication Center (PIH) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta conducted a study visit to Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia (Unika Atma Jaya), Jakarta, on Friday (May 9, 2025).

The visit was led by Fauziah Muslimah, M.I.Kom., lecturer at the Faculty of Da’wah and Communication and Head of Information Division at PIH, accompanied by PIH journalists Aida Adha Siregar, Haydar Adzikra, and Tiara Wina Azzahra, along with other faculty members from the Faculty of Da’wah and Communication.

This visit aimed to observe firsthand the implementation of Unika Atma Jaya’s Green Campus program, which reflects their commitment to environmental preservation and reducing carbon footprints within the university setting.

One highlighted initiative was the tree grant program, where participants can exchange collected plastic bottles for tree seedlings. This initiative serves as both a symbolic and educational effort to raise environmental awareness starting at the campus level.

During the visit, the UIN Jakarta PIH team received a direct presentation from the Unika Atma Jaya Green Campus program management, detailing key initiatives such as integrated waste management, green space optimization, electricity and water efficiency, and environmentally friendly campus policies.

One of the PIH content writers shared that the experience offered valuable insight for developing more environmentally conscious campus communication content.

“The Atma Jaya Green Campus program has inspired us to explore how to creatively and effectively communicate campus sustainability messages to the public, especially the academic community,” they noted.

The visit also served as a platform for open discussion between the two institutions on effective communication strategies for promoting sustainable campus initiatives through various media, including social media, campus articles, and video documentation.

Through this visit, PIH UIN Jakarta hopes to adopt best practices from Unika Atma Jaya and strengthen UIN Jakarta’s image as a university that excels not only academically, but also in environmental sustainability.
