UIN Jakarta Becomes the First PTKIN to Accommodate Indonesian Pilgrimage Training and Certification

Tangerang, UIN Online News – The Department of Da'wa Management at the Faculty of Da‘wa and Communication Sciences (FDIKOM) at Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta, together with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of the Republic of Indonesia, officially launched a partnership to establish the Certification Program for Hajj and Umrah Guides on Monday (17/11/2025).

The ceremony was attended by leading figures including UIN Jakarta Rector Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D.; Acting Director-General for Hajj and Umrah Management Dr. KH. Puji Rahardjo, M.Hum; Vice Dean for Academic Affairs Dr. Fita Fatkhurrahmah, M.Si; Vice Dean for General Administration and Finance Dr. Rubiyanah, M.A.; and Sub-Director of Hajj Pilgrims Guidance Dr. H. Khalilurrahman, M.A., QIA., CRMO.

In his remarks, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar expressed appreciation for the trust given by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and hope in the future collaboration

“We deeply appreciate this inaugural collaboration with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. This initiative serves as a joint program to strengthen the professionalism and competence pilgrimage guides in Indonesia. This partnership represents a strategic step toward enhancing the competencies of Hajj and Umrah guides across the country,” he conveyed.

Prof. Asep also highlighted notable insights from the Indonesian demographics with a significant shift of statistic recorded.

“Sixty percent of participants are women, while forty percent are men. This shows growing interest and participation among female guides,” he explained.

Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dr. Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak praised UIN Jakarta, noting that it is the first Islamic State University (PTKIN) to implement a public certification program.

“I sincerely commend UIN Jakarta for becoming the first PTKIN to launch the Certification Program for Hajj and Umrah Guides. This initiative reflects true dedication in preparing guides who will accompany millions of pilgrims with sincerity. We hope programs like this will continue to grow sustainably,” he added.

At the conclusion of his remarks, he encouraged the establishment of a Hajj Studies Center at UIN Jakarta to strengthen scholarly literacy, ecosystem development, and research related to Hajj administration.

“I hope UIN Jakarta establishes a Hajj Studies Center to strengthen ceremonial literacy and theology in Hajj and Umrah. With a strong ecosystem and continuous research, we can create a more accessible, high-quality, and pilgrim-friendly Hajj experience,” he said.
