UIN Jakarta and UPM Explore Collaboration in Academic and Publication Sectors
Jakarta, Berita UIN Online - Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) have agreed to collaborate in various fields, both academic and publication. This agreement was reached in a collaboration meeting held on Monday (5/2/2024) in the PLKI Meeting Room, UIN Jakarta Rectorate Building.
This collaboration meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Haslinda Abdullah, Director of the Institute of Social Science Studies (IPSAS) UPM, Prof. Ts. Dr. Rusli Haji Abdullah, Prof. Intermediate. Dr. Haliza Abdul Rahman, team from UPM, Prof. Maila Dinia Husni Rahiem, Ph.D., Head of (PLKI) UIN Jakarta, and Prof. Yunita Faela Nisa, Dean of the Faculty of Psychology, UIN Jakarta.
In the meeting, both parties explained to each other the research focus, cooperation plans, workshop activity proposals, other forms of cooperation, the MoU process, and plans for formalizing cooperation.
Prof. Haslinda Abdullah said that IPSAS UPM is focusing on research on Youth Wellbeing, which involves collaboration with researchers from Iran, Iraq, Turkey and Malaysia. "Researchers from Iran focus on Financial Wellbeing, namely how Islamic countries deal with economic pressure, low exchange rates, and intervention from outside," he said.
He also said that in 2025, IPSAS UPM will hold a Youth Commonwealth Conference, which is an event for meetings and discussions between youth from Commonwealth countries. Apart from that, IPSAS UPM will also host the 5th Regional Seminar on Community Issues, which is a collaboration between Halu Oleo University (UHO), Teuku Umar University (UTU), Abulyutama University (UNAYA), Chulalongkorn University, and UPM, which will discuss community issues.
Prof. Maila Dinia Husni Rahiem revealed that UIN Jakarta is submitting a proposal for workshop activities for education staff to the Ministry of Religion with the LPDP scholarship scheme. "This program is expected to be managed by IPSAS UPM, for 3 batches totaling 100 people, who will receive training and certificates from UPM," he said.
He also added that other collaborations that could be carried out between UIN Jakarta and UPM were research funding, joint publications, and adjunct professors. To join the publication, he suggested the public health sector with Dr. Haliza from UPM and Prof. Khoirunnisa, Dr. Narila from UIN Jakarta. Prof. Rusli from UPM to join the Faculty of Science and Technology, UIN Jakarta.
Prof. Haslinda Abdullah responded that the current IPSAS UPM research also focuses on native people, communities, ecotourism, psychology and literature. He expressed his willingness to collaborate with UIN Jakarta in these various fields. "The MoU between UIN Jakarta and UPM can be processed immediately, and then the collaboration will be formalized in September 2024, when the 5th Regional Seminar on Community Issues takes place," he said.
The conclusions and follow-up to this collaboration meeting are as follows:
- UIN Jakarta and UPM agreed to collaborate in the fields of research, education and community services, in accordance with their respective focuses and expertise.
- UIN Jakarta will send proposals for workshop activities for educational staff to IPSAS UPM for review and approval.
- UIN Jakarta and UPM will prepare a draft MoU and complete the necessary administrative processes.
- UIN Jakarta and UPM will formalize their collaboration in September 2024, by signing an MoU and exchanging plaques.
- UIN Jakarta and UPM will maintain good communication and coordination to carry out cooperation that is beneficial for both parties. (PR)
