These are the Entry Requirements for International Students at UIN Jakarta

Rektorat Building, UIN ONLINE News - UIN Jakarta Expose was held online again on Wednesday (3/4/2024), this time aimed at prospective international students. The event was attended by a number of prospective students from around the world, including Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, and Afghanistan.

Head of the International Cooperation Service Center (PLKI), Prof. Maila Dinia Husni Rahiem, M.A., Ph.D., gave a presentation on the faculties and study programs available at UIN Jakarta. Thirteen faculties and one graduate school were introduced, and this year marks the first year the Faculty of Health Sciences has opened a scholarship program for international students, thus creating greater opportunities for prospective students interested in health-related study programs.

International Cooperation Coordinator, Dzikri Rahmat Romadhon, M.Fis, explained several requirements that must be met by international students who wish to enter UIN Jakarta. These requirements include:

Undergraduate Program (S1)

• Latest Curriculum Vitae (CV)
• Color photo sized 4x6 cm (red background)
• High school diploma (maximum 3 years after graduation)
• High school transcript
• Minimum TOEFL score of 500 or minimum TOAFL score of 450 or IELTS 6.0 or BIPA certificate (officially issued by the institutional authority)
• Health certificate (medical check-up)
• Financial capability (minimum personal savings of USD 2000)
• Passport (valid for at least 18 months before expiration)

Master's Program (M.A and Ph.D)

• Color photo sized 4x6 cm (red background)
• Bachelor's or Master's degree certificate (for doctoral program)
• Bachelor's or Master's degree transcript (for doctoral program)
• Minimum TOEFL score of 500 or minimum TOAFL score of 450 or IELTS 6.0 or BIPA certificate (officially issued by the institutional authority)
• Recommendation letter from professors or lecturers (minimum of two recommenders)
• Health certificate (Medical Check-Up)
• Permission letter from employer (if applicable)
• Research proposal (4-8 pages, including background, literature review, and research methods)
• Financial capability (minimum personal savings for the last three months of USD 2000)
• Passport (valid for at least 18 months before expiration)

Dzikri also explained the facilities available at UIN Jakarta as well as the cost of living that international scholarship students will receive, including accommodation, daily needs, housing/dormitory, and visa. Prof. Maila added that these costs are only available for one person, and if prospective students bring their families or relatives, the expenses for the family will not be covered by UIN Jakarta.

"We provide dormitories for international students, including daily expenses and accommodation to their home countries, but we only cover personal expenses. UIN Jakarta also provides Indonesian language courses for three months before students officially attend lectures. I think three months is enough time to learn basic Indonesian because, from what I know, Indonesian is one of the easiest languages to learn. Learning more advanced Indonesian can be done during lectures from the lecturers' materials and chatting with friends," explained Prof. Maila in English when answering audience questions about living expenses and language training for scholarship recipients.

At the end of the presentation, two international students shared their experiences while studying at UIN Jakarta, namely Amir Fajar from Thailand and Hasina Wardak from Afghanistan. While taking the International Relations Program at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Amir had a positive impression of the lecturers because of their excellent delivery of course materials and the friendly relationship established between lecturers and students.

"Fellow students at UIN Jakarta are friendly and do not discriminate against me for coming from abroad. In my opinion, people in Indonesia are the friendliest and least discriminatory. The facilities at UIN are also good and clean, which also motivates me to study at UIN," said Amir in English.

The same impression was conveyed by Hasina, a student of the Information Systems Study Program at the Faculty of Science and Technology, who admitted that she received a lot of support from fellow students around her, which helped her quickly adapt to the academic environment and feel comfortable during these two semesters. The staff at UIN Jakarta, especially from PLKI, also assisted her well from visa to all her needs in her studies.
