Strengthening Diplomatic and Cultural Cooperation, Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia attends FISIP UIN Jakarta Public Lecture
FISIP Building, UIN News Online — The International Relations (IR) Study Program of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held a public lecture entitled “Culture and Diplomacy Talks” discussing the history and culture of Tunisia, and Tunisia's close relationship with Indonesia which was attended by more than 100 students at the FISIP UIN Jakarta Building on Monday (04/11/2024).
The seminar was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia to the Republic of Indonesia, Mohamed Trabelsi, Dean of FISIP UIN Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Dzuriyatun Toyibah, M.Si, M.A., Head of the IR Study Program of FISIP UIN Jakarta, Robi Sugara, M.Sc, and Founder of the Free Republic Political News Agency (RMOL) as well as lecturer in the HI and Culture course at FISIP UIN Jakarta, Dr. Teguh Santosa, and accompanied by three selected students as spokespersons, namely Nadia Putri Khairan, Athaya Raihan Nasywa Bramoro and Evan Andhika Suci.
To kick off the event, the Seaflowers dance group performed with Tunisian and Middle Eastern nuanced dances, as well as mesmerizing songs to entertain invited guests and participants.
The Dean of FISIP UIN Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Dzuriyatun Toyibah, M.Si, M.A., in her speech felt happy and proud of FISIP UIN Jakarta and hoped that the public lecture presenting the Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia to the Republic of Indonesia would be the beginning of special cooperation between the two countries, especially for the education sector.
“I am happy and proud that today HI has printed new experiences and I hope that by organizing this activity with the Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia to the Republic of Indonesia can expand Tunisia's cooperative relations with Indonesia,” said the Dean of FISIP UIN Jakarta.
In delivering the material, the Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia to the Republic of Indonesia, Mohamed Trabelsi mentioned a number of links and relationships between the Republic of Tunisia and the Republic of Indonesia historically. He mentioned the story of a great Tunisian painter, Hatem El Mekki, who was born in Batavia, May 16, 1918. His works are inspired by Indonesia's tropical forests and various batik motifs.
In addition to the story of Hatem El Mekki, the Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia to the Republic of Indonesia, Mohamed Trabelsi also told the story of the friendship between the two countries after World War II. As well as other stories that were greeted enthusiastically by the participants.
This activity is expected to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, both diplomatically, culturally and scientifically.
