'Religious Tour' across UIN Jakarta: Interfaith Leaders Share Experience on Green Campus

UIN Jakarta, UIN Online News — UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, in fulfilling its commitment to becoming a Green Campus, consistently implements ecologically sustainable technologies, including the deployment of Electric Buses (Bilis) for student transportation throughout the campus.

The vibrant and enthusiastic ambiance of unity intensified when religious leaders from diverse faiths participated in the Bilis ride during the National Dialog and Pancacinta event series, along with the Houses of Worship Cleaning, on Saturday (August 16, 2025).

Present among the interfaith representatives were Dr. Li Edi Ramawijaya Putra, M.Pd., representing Buddhism; Dr. Gandi Wibowo, M.Th., representing Protestant Christianity; Xs. Ir. Budi Santoso Tanuwibowo, M.M., representing Confucianism; and Made Wirawan, S.Ag., M.Fil.H., representing Hinduism.

Bilis is an environmentally sustainable facility operated by UIN Jakarta, contributing to the establishment of a Green campus. In addition to functioning as operational vehicles, they provide transportation for students on campus and serve as recreational vehicles frequently utilized for traveling the green spaces of UIN Jakarta.

The involvement of interfaith individuals who also participated added a fresh dimension, suggesting that Bilis transcends mere transportation, serving instead as a venue for interactions that enhance unity.

During the tour with Bilis, they fully engaged in amicable dialogue, expressing their perspectives on the significance of preserving harmony and reinforcing the essence of brotherhood. The warm scenery seems to validate that divergent beliefs are not a hindrance but rather a valuable diversity that should be collectively maintained.

Following the campus tour, the ceremony proceeded with a ceremonial initiative to cleanse the places of worship situated within the UIN Jakarta premises. This effort is perceived as a genuine expression of patriotism and interfaith stewardship in preserving precious sites as dignified and tranquil spiritual environments

"These buses are the figurative symbol of conveyance, illustrating our collective journey towards a harmonious Indonesia," stated a cross-religious leader.

This ceremony profoundly impacted the participants and underscored that solidarity, compassion, and patriotism are essential for preserving unity under the principle of Unity in Diversity (Bhinneka Tunggal Ika).

This event illustrates that campus transportation, such as Bilis, may serve as a conduit for fostering camaraderie and a tangible emblem of an eco-friendly lifestyle among students.

This event is a collaboration between the State Islamic University (UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta and the Directorate of Islamic Religious Higher Education (Diktis) of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Indonesian Independence Festival, scheduled for August 15th to 17th, 2025, embodying the theme "United, Sovereign, Prosperous People, and Advanced Indonesia."

Aside from this session, several activities during this event also encompassed a public exercise, which was conducted on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 6:30 AM at the Student Center Field. Additionally, the culmination of the event will occur on Sunday, August 17, 2025, with the flag-raising ceremony and Satyalancana Karya Satya awarding at the UIN Jakarta Field at 7:00 AM.
