Reinforcing Academic Collaboration: FSH UIN Jakarta and University of Malaya Host the 9th ICLJ

Faculty of Sharia and Law (FSH), UIN Online News — The Faculty of Sharia and Law (FSH) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta reaffirms its dedication to enhancing international academic collaborations by collaborating with the University of Malaya to host the 9th International Conference on Law and Justice (ICLJ).

The conference was scheduled to occur online on Tuesday (August 5, 2025). Many scholars, researchers, and legal professionals from multiple nations attended the conference, providing a space for discourse on diverse contemporary legal matters.

Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., the Rector of UIN Jakarta, formally inaugurated the event. He emphasized the value of scholarly contributions in constructing a legal system that is both equitable and pertinent to global dynamics.

"International collaboration is essential for tackling contemporary legal challenges, and I encourage all attendees to utilize this forum to exchange expertise and enhance professional networks," he opened.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Maksum, M.A., the Dean of FSH, conveyed profound gratitude to the speakers, participants, and committee responsible for the meticulous organization of this event. He asserts that ICLJ is a yearly event that has evolved into a significant tradition for FSH, facilitating the harmonization of Islamic law with other legal systems, particularly in tackling the challenges posed by emerging legal issues.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I believe that the outcome will be remarkable and advantageous. Therefore, we highly anticipate reconvening at the forthcoming ICLJ,” he conveyed.

This event showcases a roster of distinguished speakers from diverse global institutions: Dr. Siti Zubaidah Ismail from the University of Malaya, Malaysia; Dr. Balawyn Jones from La Trobe University, Australia; Dr. Asharaf Booley from the University of the Western Cape, South Africa; and Professor Dr. Amany Lubis, Lc, MA, alongside Professor Dr. Masykuri Abdillah from UIN Jakarta. Their presence enhances perspectives and offers extensive insights into the function of law across many social, political, and cultural contexts.

Dr. Masyrofah, the 9th Chairperson of ICLJ, expressed appreciation for the active involvement of all participants, including both speakers and respondents.
