Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Affirms UM-PTKIN 2025 as Investment in Excellent Human Resources
Jakarta, UIN Online News — The Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Nasaruddin Umar, stated that the implementation of the State Islamic Religious Higher Education Entrance Examination (UM-PTKIN) 2025 is a crucial part of developing excellent and integral human resources. During the national graduation session attended by PTKIN rectors from across Indonesia, the Minister emphasized that this selection isn't just about academics, but also about the values of honesty, trustworthiness, and responsibility.
“UM-PTKIN must be a space for character building. Today's job market demands not only intelligence, but also honesty and patience,” the Minister said in Jakarta on Wednesday (June 25, 2025). He also highlighted the importance of efficiency and professionalism in the selection system, including the need for a diplomacy- and integrity-based approach rather than mere bureaucratic formality.
The Minister conveyed that the evaluation of the implementation showed positive results but still reminded all parties to maintain integrity and not become complacent regarding any potential irregularities, no matter how small. He invited all elements to continue refining the system to be more adaptive and quality-oriented.
Director-General of Islamic Education, Amien Suyitno, reported that this year's UM-PTKIN process ran smoothly despite facing several technical challenges. He believes that cross-unit synergy and strengthened coordination were key to its success. “Hopefully, this implementation model can serve as a reference for future selections,” he stated.
Suyitno also noted high public participation and increasing satisfaction with Islamic education services. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of developing welcoming and functional academic spaces, as well as the significance of educational research results that promote a more humanistic approach.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs is also planning to strengthen alumni networks and implement more effective curriculum evaluations. These efforts are part of a long-term commitment to create an inclusive, professional, and globally competitive Islamic education ecosystem.
