LDK Syahid FDIKOM UIN Jakarta Talkshow, Ustadz Daeng Encourages Gen Z to Embrace Digital Da'wah in the Modern Era

Aula Madya, UIN News Online – The Student Activity Unit (UKM) of Lembaga Dakwah Kampus (LDK) Syahid, Faculty of Da’wah and Communication Studies (FDIKOM) at UIN Jakarta held a talk show titled "Gen Z Empowerment for Optimalizing the Next Level of Digital Era Da’wah Communication." The event aimed to encourage the younger generation, particularly Gen Z, to engage actively in da’wah (Islamic preaching) through digital platforms. It took place at Aula Madya UIN Jakarta on Friday, September 6, 2024.

This talk show was part of the Inspire Festival (Infest) Dakwah, which started on September 5 and included speech and quiz competitions. Winners of these competitions were also announced during the event.

The event was attended by LDK Syahid members, general students, and competition participants awaiting the announcement of winners. The speaker for the session was Ustadz M Syawal Al-Mubarak S.Kom. I., also known as Ustadz Daeng, a well-known content creator and public figure. In his presentation, Ustadz Daeng emphasized that over 200 million Indonesians use the internet, urging young people to utilize social media as a medium for da’wah and spreading goodness.

He explained that the younger generation has enormous potential to reach a broader audience if they use these platforms wisely. Despite the challenges of delivering da’wah on social media, such as negative comments from netizens, Daeng encouraged youth to view these challenges as learning experiences. "Gen Z, who are starting to preach through social media content, need to prepare themselves mentally and maintain a positive attitude because many comments can be offensive," he stated.

Furthermore, Ustadz Daeng highlighted that preaching on social media is not an easy task. "It requires motivation and consistency in da’wah. The principle is that we must synergize to spread goodness wherever we are," he added.

He pointed out that Gen Z has significant potential to spread Islamic teachings. Despite the challenges faced in direct preaching, he stressed the importance of mental preparation when engaging in da’wah on social media. “Since many netizens give comments that can be quite hurtful,” he noted.

In conclusion, Ustadz Daeng shared tips for effective da’wah on social media, such as addressing trending issues, using relevant hashtags, and collaborating with others. "Those who don’t collaborate will collapse," he concluded.
