Language Development Center: 2026 UIN Jakarta New Students Required to Take Language Test

Rectorate Building, UIN Online News — New students at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta for the 2026/2027 Academic Year are required to take the English and Arabic Proficiency Test organized by the university's Language Development Center (PPB). The test aims to assess their initial competencies and serve as a baseline for developing their English and Arabic proficiency throughout their studies at UIN Jakarta.

In a press release, the UIN Jakarta Language Development Center announced that the test is mandatory for new students who have successfully passed the admission process and re-registered through various admission channels. These channels include SNBP, SNBT, SPAN-PTKIN, UM-PTKIN, SPMB Mandiri UIN Jakarta Waves 1–3, Non-Regular Special Scheme SPMB Mandiri, Achievement-Based Selection, Independent Test, Partnership/PKB Programs, and the BLU scheme.

Students who have completed their re-registration and received their Student Identification Number (NIM) are urged to promptly register for the test via the system provided by PPB UIN Jakarta. The test will be conducted online and is free of charge.

The Head of the Language Development Center at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Kustiwan Syarif, S.Ag., M.A., Ph.D., stated that the language test is an initial step to map the students' linguistic abilities. "Through this early mapping, the guidance and development of students' language competencies can be more targeted and aligned with their academic needs," he noted.

According to Kustiwan, proficiency in English and Arabic offers extensive benefits for students. It not only supports their coursework and access to scientific literature but also opens up opportunities to participate in various international academic activities. "Therefore, we expect the new students to take this test seriously," he stated.

He added that the mapping results are intended to serve as a foundation for students to continuously improve their language competencies during their education at the university. "We hope the results of this language proficiency mapping will serve as a foundation for students to continuously improve their skills while pursuing their studies at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta," he added.

Meanwhile, the Coordinator for Arabic Language Services and Language Testing at PPB UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Muhammad Anas, Lc., M.A., urged new students who have received their NIM to register immediately. "We call on all new students who already have their NIM to promptly register for the language test," he said.

Muhammad Anas also reminded students to regularly check their personal emails, as information regarding the test schedule and Zoom links will be distributed through this channel. "Since the test is conducted online, students must ensure their registered email is active and properly prepare their devices and internet connection," he explained.
