"Integrating Religion with Science Leads to a Modern Civilization," Says the Rector of UIN Jakarta at the AICIS+ 2025

Depok, UIN Online News — Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta once again demonstrated its growing presence on the international academic stage through active participation in the Annual International Conference on Islamic Studies (AICIS+) 2025, held at Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII) in Depok from Wednesday until Thursday (29–30/10/2025).

This prestigious academic forum, attended by delegations from 31 countries, served as a strategic platform to highlight the image and contribution of Indonesia’s Islamic higher education to global scholarship.

At the event, the UIN Jakarta booth showcased a wide range of innovative works developed by lecturers and students from various faculties, including the Faculty of Medicine (FK), Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES), and Faculty of Science and Technology (FST). Among the featured innovations were the Industrial Hygiene Android Application, the SihatTB Tuberculosis Education App, a waste-collecting robot, and eco-enzyme, an environmentally friendly biotechnology solution.

In addition to technology-based innovations, UIN Jakarta also exhibited various pharmaceutical and health products developed by students. These included aromatherapy candles, natural laundry soap, and several herbal medicines, such as fever reducers, topical ointments, antibiotics, and laxatives.

Beyond the faculty-level showcases, several institutional units within UIN Jakarta also participated in AICIS+ 2025, including the Research Center, the Journal Management Office (Rumah Jurnal), the Halal Center, and the Green Campus Development Center.

The Journal Management Office presented UIN Jakarta’s advanced scientific journal management system, featuring several internationally recognized publications indexed by Scopus and SINTA, such as Studia Islamika, Jurnal Ahkam, Kimia Valensi, JP3I, and Etikonomi.

Meanwhile, the Halal Center highlighted its science-based research and certification services, which contribute to strengthening Indonesia’s national halal industry. The Green Campus Development Center introduced various eco-friendly initiatives, including solar panel systems, electric buses (BILIS), and drinking water fountains, reflecting the university’s strong commitment to environmental sustainability.

UIN Jakarta’s Rector, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., expressed his appreciation for the active involvement of the university’s academic community in this international event.

“UIN Jakarta’s participation in AICIS+ demonstrates that the spirit of innovation and research at our university continues to thrive and produce tangible benefits for society. It also reflects our core vision of integrating knowledge and faith, which is the defining character of UIN Jakarta,” he stated.

Prof. Jahar further affirmed that UIN Jakarta remains committed to supporting cross-disciplinary academic innovation that enhances the university’s national and international visibility.

“We want to show that UIN Jakarta excels not only in Islamic studies but also in the development of science and technology. Adhering to religion is not a sign of backwardness, but rather, a divine progress towards modern civilization,” he added.
