For Justice: 137th Graduation Ceremony Day 4 Displays Hundreds of Protests from UIN Jakarta Graduates

Jakarta, UIN Online News — UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held the final day of its 137th Grand Commencement Ceremony on Sunday (August 31, 2025) at the Harun Nasution Auditorium. The graduation was attended by 423 graduates from the Faculty of Da’wah and Communication Sciences (FDIK), 212 graduates from the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKes), and 94 graduates from the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FDI), bringing the total to 729 graduates.

The official Senate session was opened by the Senate Chair, Prof. Dr. H. Dede Rosyada, M.A., who expressed his hopes for the graduates to uphold Islamic ethics in every field they pursue. He also shared important advice for life after university.

“Strengthen your resolve and determination to embrace change. The university has given you knowledge, experiences, and a strong network during your studies. All of this is your capital for transformation. Start by expanding the communication and networks you’ve built, strengthen partnerships, and avoid hostility,” he emphasized.

The Rector’s Decree was read by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Ahmad Tholabi, S.Ag., S.H., M.H., M.A., who also announced the outstanding graduates:

  • Ratumas Marshyanda Syahrani from FDIK, Da’wa Management

  • Arifah Kamila from FDI, Dirasat Islamiyah

  • Risma Listya Margaretha from FIKes, Nursing Science

The best thesis awards went to Damayanti Dinda Kinasih (FDIK) for Social Sciences and Amanda Farras Wijdhan (FIKes) for Sciences.

The inaugural address was delivered by UIN Jakarta Rector, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., who reminded graduates that commencement marks not only a joyful celebration but also the culmination of all challenges they have overcome throughout their academic journey. He stressed that discipline is the key to success.

"You can achieve success if you maintain discipline in managing your time, learning, emotions, and competition. Manage your time well and never stop learning,” he advised.

Also present was H. Muhammad Hafidz Lidinillah, S.Th.I, M.A.Ec., Ph.D., an UIN Jakarta alumnus from the Faculty of Islamic Studies and currently a Senior Policy Analyst at the Inspectorate General of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, as well as a graduate of Western Sydney University. He expressed strong confidence in UIN Jakarta alumni to make significant contributions toward Indonesia Emas 2045.

“There are at least three things to keep in mind:First, follow your passion—whether you choose a professional career, continue in academia with a master’s, or even pursue a Ph.D. Follow where your heart feels most comfortable to contribute meaningfully to Indonesia,” he stated.

The ceremony concluded with a Patriotic Oration, calling on graduates to uphold social justice and democracy and to become agents of change who speak out against injustice in pursuit of Indonesia’s 1945 independence ideals.
