It's not about timeline, but togetherness that creates relationships, sustenance, and other good things,” he said.

The first speaker, Shulhan Rumaru, M.A., shared the story of his journey from an island boy to studying in Java and finally getting a scholarship abroad. He emphasized three important aspects in achieving goals: fighting mentality, fighting friends, and fighting mentors.

In his explanation of mental fighting, Rumaru quoted Leonardo da Vinci's thought, “What we fantasize has the potential to become a reality.” He also referred to Daniel Goleman who stated, “Aspiring is like the neurology of the mind. Because it has the potential to be heard by nature and helped to reach you again at a later date.”

Rumaru emphasized the importance of persistence in the face of failure. “In achieving goals, the failure phase must still be endeavored to continue fighting,” he said. He concluded his explanation with the Latin motto, “Dum spiro, spero - while I live, I can still hope.”

Regarding comrades, Rumaru emphasized the importance of sharing dream schemes to increase the probability of success. “Many people want to succeed, but only a few survive the process,” he said, adding that success is a collective effort.

Lastly, Rumaru spoke about the role of a fighting mentor as a guide, reminder, and helper in the journey to achieve goals. He shared his personal experience, “When I was completely directionless with what I was doing, Prof. Gun recommended me to take a scholarship in the US.”

Meanwhile, the next speaker, Abraham Soyem, M.T.A., emphasized that the success of becoming an LPDP recipient is inseparable from the dedication that has been done long before. “We can become LPDP recipients because we have done a lot of dedication long before,” he said.

The Q&A session was dynamic, with both speakers appreciating the enthusiasm of the participants. They saw the questions asked as a reflection of unrest that has the potential to trigger community development and improvement of existing conditions.

The event was closed with a joint documentation session. This talk show is expected to inspire FDIKOM students to dare to dream and strive for education up to the international level.
