Dozens of MAPK Alumni Attend National Gathering to Strengthen Contributions to Nation-Building
Auditorium Prof. Bahtiar Effendy, UIN Online News – Dozens of alumni from Madrasah Aliyah Program Khusus (MAPK) across Indonesia gathered for the second MAPK Indonesia National Gathering (Silatnas). The event, held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Auditorium Prof. Bahtiar Effendy, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, successfully brought together MAPK alumni to discuss strategic issues in the development of Islamic education.
MAPK alumni participants engaged in the National Deliberation (Rembuk Nasional) session, a key part of the Silatnas activities. Through this forum, alumni formulated seven strategic recommendations to reinforce MAPK's role in nation-building, particularly in Islamic education, community empowerment, intellectual diplomacy, and responding to global issues.
Alumni discussed seven strategic themes, including: strengthening MAPK as an independent work unit; the National Education System Draft Law (RUU Sisdiknas) for Islamic education and the formation of ulama (scholarly) cadres; and strategies for an independent, productive, and networked alumni organization.
Additionally, the discussions focused on: strengthening the ummah's economy through revisions to the Hajj Law and Islamic philanthropy; contributions of intellectual diplomacy to Islamic world issues; MAPK's role in building a moderate national character in the digital era; and religion's response to human rights and environmental crises.
The discussion of these themes demonstrated the alumni's strong determination to position MAPK alumni as a crucial pillar for nation-building. This was also reflected in the spirit conveyed by Zaenal Muttaqin, S.Th.I., M.Ag., an alumnus from the Ciamis MAPK region, who stated that this MAPK Silatnas is an important forum to strengthen the alumni's role in contributing to the progress of the nation and society. "MAPK not only produces Muslim intellectual cadres but also shapes leadership character that cares about communal and national issues," he said.
Many MAPK alumni have contributed significantly in various fields, from academics, bureaucrats, religious figures, to professionals in diverse sectors. Their contributions have not only made an impact at the local level but also nationally and even internationally.
According to UIN Online News monitoring, the MAPK Indonesia II Silatnas carried the theme "38 Years of MAPK: Serving and Making an Impact," reflecting its long journey and contributions in shaping excellent, moderate, and broad-minded Muslim generations. The MAPK Indonesia Silatnas was held for two days, Wednesday and Thursday, June 25-26, 2025, at Auditorium Prof. Bahtiar Effendy, FISIP UIN Jakarta. This National Gathering successfully fostered agreements among alumni to strengthen and maintain academic integrity amidst the rapid developments in technology and information.
