Prof. Bilveer Singh

NUS - Singapore

Profile

Bilveer Singh is a senior academic and leading expert in International Relations in the Department of Political Science at the National University of Singapore (NUS), where he also serves as Deputy Head of Department. He holds both Master’s and Doctoral degrees from the Australian National University (ANU) and is internationally recognized as a specialist in comparative politics, Southeast Asian security, and terrorism studies. Beyond his role at NUS, he is a Senior Fellow at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) and serves as President of the Political Science Association of Singapore, positioning him as a key figure in shaping national and regional security discourse.

As a highly productive scholar, his intellectual contributions span a wide spectrum, ranging from in-depth analyses of political power dynamics in Indonesia—as reflected in works such as PILPRES 2024: Indonesia under Prabowo–Gibran—to global collaborative research published in leading international journals, including The Lancet. Entering 2025 and 2026, he remains actively engaged in strengthening academic cooperation across the region, serving as a Visiting Lecturer at several major universities in Indonesia. His lectures frequently address topics such as Singapore’s political pragmatism and the historical construction of Indonesian politics. His sustained engagement in policy forums and interdisciplinary research highlights his role as a vital bridge between academia, policymakers, and the wider public in interpreting the complexities of Southeast Asian geopolitics.

In 2025, Bilveer Singh serves as a Professor Fellow at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. In this capacity, he collaborates academically and in research with Robi Sugara, M.Sc., a faculty member of FISIP UIN Jakarta. This collaboration is expected to strengthen UIN Jakarta’s international networks while promoting the integration of globally benchmarked scholarship and research.
