UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Ready to Realize Green Campus with Simultaneous Eco Enzyme Application

UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, UIN News Online - State Islamic University (UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held an eco enzyme pouring activity simultaneously around the campus on Tuesday (13/8/2024). This activity is part of the effort to realize the concept of green campus and participation in UI Green Metric for MURI record in 2024.

Rector of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., stated that this activity is a form of concern for the environment. "The pouring of eco enzyme aims to neutralize waste on campus. We collaborate with several public and religious universities in this program," he said.

In addition, Prof. Asep also added that this activity is expected to become a culture and familiarize the concept of green campus for students and education staff at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.

Meanwhile, the Head of UIN Jakarta Green Campus Task Force Team, Prof. Dr. Hendrawati, M.Si., explained that eco enzyme is just one of the efforts to support environmentally friendly programs. "We also replace street lights with solar power and utilize used ablution water for fish ponds and watering plants," she explained.

Prof. Hendrawati added that her office also educates students through courses and seminars related to environmental issues. "This activity is part of UI Green Metric for the MURI record. The big event will be held on August 17 after the independence ceremony," she said.

The pouring of eco enzyme is planned to take place once a semester in each unit, but for certain units the program will be redesigned. This activity is expected to encourage the creation of a more environmentally friendly and sustainable campus environment.

The green campus initiative carried out by UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta shows the commitment of higher education institutions in preserving the environment. With various programs that have been and will be implemented, it is expected to inspire not only the academic community, but also the wider community to care more about the environment. This step is in line with global efforts in tackling climate change and realizing sustainable development.
