UIN Jakarta Librarians Explore Innovative Qur'anic Education at LPMQ Museum

Jakarta, UIN Online News — A delegation of librarians from the UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Library made an official visit to the Lajnah Pentashihan Mushaf Al-Qur’an (LPMQ) Museum at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) on Wednesday (04/06/2025).

The visit was led by Agus Rifai, Ph.D., along with team members Heru Widodo, S.IP., Mudianah Mahmud, S.IP., and Rusdi Tumanggor. They were directly welcomed by the Head of LPMQ, H. Abdul Aziz Sidqi, M.Ag., at the Bayt Al-Qur’an & Istiqlal Museum Building.

The LPMQ Museum now features an interactive and educational concept that blends modern technology with Qur'anic values. One notable innovation is the Mushaf Al-Qur’an Isyarat (Sign Language Qur'an), specially designed for the hearing impaired, as well as a collection of Qur'anic manuscripts in various regional languages such as Javanese, Buginese, Madurese, and Acehnese, reflecting the cultural diversity of Islam in Indonesia.

During the visit, the librarians also learned about the history and development of Qur'anic manuscript printing from the classical to the digital era. They also viewed the Map of Qur'anic Manuscript Distribution in the Nusantara, which visually displays data on the distribution and use of Qur'anic manuscripts approved by LPMQ across various regions of Indonesia.

Agus Rifai, Ph.D., expressed his admiration for the museum's innovative approach. “This is not just a museum. We didn’t expect a museum concept to be this interesting and educational, combining history, technology, and Qur'anic values. It’s very inspiring for today's youth and students,” he stated.

The visit aimed to strengthen synergy in collection development, Qur'anic literacy, and integrated library resource management. Furthermore, it provided an opportunity to observe the museum's concept and the Qur'anic education innovations developed by LPMQ firsthand.

The LPMQ Museum, operating under the Research and Development and Training Agency of the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs, has transformed into a modern religious education tourism destination. By integrating technology and history in an interactive space, the museum is expected to bring the younger generation closer to the Qur'an in a more relevant way.
