UIN Jakarta & IBTS Encourage Digitalization in Higher Education Sector

Main Auditorium, UIN News Online – UIN Jakarta, in collaboration with Indonesia Business Trade Solution, successfully hosted the Road to Islamic Digital Transformation Forum 2025 under the theme "Digital Transformation in Higher Education: A Path to Economic Global Competitiveness" on Friday, (18/10/2024). The event, held at UIN Jakarta’s Main Auditorium, brought together leaders, experts, and stakeholders from various sectors to explore how digital transformation in higher education can enhance Indonesia’s position in the global economy.

Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., emphasized the university's commitment to embracing digital transformation, particularly in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and green campus technologies, aligning with sustainability goals. He stressed that the forum reflects UIN Jakarta's vision of preparing students and educators for the future of education in Indonesia. “This event aligns with our mission to support the national agenda of creating a ‘Golden Generation,’ ready to meet technological advancements head-on while educating the public and students about the importance of digital transformation in education,” he stated.

The forum opened with a keynote address by the Minister of Communication and Informatics of Indonesia, Budi Arie Setiadi, followed by several high-profile speakers, including Peter F. Gontha, who delivered a keynote on "The Era of Surveillance Capitalism: Navigating Digital Economy and Diplomacy." His presentation highlighted the critical role of data in shaping the future of the global economy and urged universities to equip students with the skills necessary to navigate this reality.

Prominent figures from various sectors also participated in this event, including Dodi S. Abdulkadir (Managing Partner of MR & Partners and President Commissioner of Indonesia Business Trade Solution), Slamet Aji Pamungkas (Deputy for Cybersecurity and Economic Cryptography, BSSN), Rosa Permata Sari (Business Strategy Director of PT PGN Tbk), Siti Nur Azizah Ma’ruf Amin (Chairwoman of the Association of Muslimah Entrepreneurs Indonesia), and Fithra Faisal (Economist at Samuel Sekuritas Indonesia and Lecturer at FEB UI). Together, they shared insights on how digital transformation can empower higher education institutions to drive global competitiveness.

In addition to expert talks, the forum featured the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UIN Jakarta and Indonesia Business Trade Solution, symbolizing a strategic collaboration aimed at advancing digital transformation in education. The MoU marks a step toward creating a more adaptive and sustainable educational ecosystem at UIN Jakarta, designed to prepare students for the demands of the digital era.

Poppy Zeidra, CEO of Indonesia Business Trade Solution, emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating, “Digital transformation in higher education is a cornerstone for the future global economy. This collaboration seeks to integrate digitalization into the educational ecosystem, allowing institutions like UIN Jakarta to produce graduates equipped for success in the digital age.”

Peter F. Gontha also stressed the importance of preparing students to navigate the complexities of the digital economy. “We are in an era where data and surveillance capitalism dominate. Higher education institutions must play a pivotal role in ensuring that students can harness the power of digital technology to compete globally,” Gontha noted.

Dodi S. Abdulkadir added, “This partnership highlights our shared vision of ensuring that Islamic higher education stays ahead in the digital revolution. Together, we can build an educational foundation that is both forward-looking and deeply connected to technological trends.”

The Road to Islamic Digital Transformation Forum 2025 represents a significant step toward empowering UIN Jakarta as a leader in digital education while contributing to Indonesia’s broader goal of becoming a globally competitive, technology-driven economy.
