UIN Jakarta Hosts 134th Graduation Ceremony: Empowering Future Leaders for a Progressive Indonesia
Main Auditorium, UIN News Online – UIN Jakarta proudly held its 134th graduation ceremony, celebrating the achievements of 2,919 graduates from bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs. Themed "Empowering Future Leaders for a Progressive Indonesia," the event took place at the Harun Nasution Auditorium on Saturday, (16/11/2024), and will continue over the next two weekends (November 16–17 and November 23–24).
The ceremony opened with a formal session led by Senate Chair Prof. Dr. Dede Rosyada, MA. In his address, Prof. Dede encouraged the graduates to view their degrees as a starting point for professional success. “Graduation marks the beginning of your journey to contribute meaningfully to society. Uphold the values of professionalism, integrity, and perseverance instilled during your time at UIN Jakarta,” he stated.
Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Ali Munhanif, MA, PhD, reported that this graduation session includes participants from various faculties, with 697 graduates receiving their degrees on the first day. Among the total graduates are 74 from the Graduate School, 390 from the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, 66 from the Faculty of Psychology, and 157 from the Faculty of Health Sciences.
The ceremony also celebrated the achievements of top-performing students:
- Doctoral Program: Muhammad Alwi Al-Maliki (Graduate School) with a GPA of 3.85.
- Master’s Program: Dewi Purnamasari (Psychology) with a perfect GPA of 4.00; Fauziyah Latiefa Salsabila (Graduate School) with a GPA of 3.81; and Iqbal Maulana (History and Islamic Civilization) with a GPA of 3.76.
- Bachelor’s Program: Shafira Assyifa (Library Science) with a perfect GPA of 4.00; Siti Amaliyah (Psychology) with a GPA of 3.93; and Jasmine Agninsyira (Pharmacy) with a GPA of 3.88.
Special awards were also given for outstanding research contributions:
- Social Science: Cantika Mulia Sholehah (Psychology) for her thesis on The Impact of Masculine Gender Role Stress and Social Support on Male Adolescents’ Emotional Expression.
- Science: Aghnia Eridani Alamudin Puteri (Health Sciences) for her thesis on Nanofiber Production from Goat Skin Gelatin-PVA Matrix Using Electrospinning.
Best graduate speaker Siti Amaliyah from the Faculty of Psychology reminded attendees that graduation is not an end but a gateway to lifelong learning and meaningful contributions. “Learning is an ongoing journey, and our efforts should focus on creating a positive impact. Let us not allow laziness to overshadow the brilliance of our minds,” she remarked, quoting Buya Hamka.
Representing the Rector, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Ahmad Tholabi Kharlie, SA, SH, MH, MA, urged the graduates to face the future with confidence. “Your academic achievement is a symbol of honor and responsibility. Indonesia looks to you as leaders who will shape a progressive, dignified nation,” he said.
