UIN Jakarta Community Services Students Participate in the Opening of Green Village in Tegal Kunir Kidul Village

Tangerang, UIN News Online - Mauk Sub-District Head Khalid Mawardi opened the Green Village program, in Armaya Village, RT 16 RW 04, Tegal Kunir Kidul Village, Mauk District, Tangerang Regency, Banten, Wednesday (21/8/2024).

This Green Village is used as a place for Demplot (Demonstration Plot), which is an extension method by making a pilot land, so that people can practice growing horticultural plants in their yards.

Khalid Mawardi explained that there are a number of objectives in opening the Green Village program in Tegal Kunir Kidul Village. First, as an effort to help alleviate inflation or rising prices of goods.

Second, as an effort to educate the village community, so that they can grow horticultural crops including chilies, tomatoes, spinach, kale and others.

“Third, as an effort to integrate the Green Village program with President-elect Prabowo Subianto's nutritious food program,” he explained to Tangerang Ekspres.

In the same place, Tegal Kunir Kidul Village Head Syarifudin added that the Green Village program has been continuously promoted by the village government from the previous period until now in Tegal Kunir Kidul Village.

“Alhamdulillah, in the middle of this year, we started planting chilies, water spinach and other vegetables,” Syarifudin said.

Syarifudin thanked the parties involved in the Kampung Hijau program, including Community Services students from UIN Jakarta, Tegal Kunir Kidul Village smart farm manager Mr. Haerudin and land owner Mr. Sugeng.

“The Kampung Hijau program place also teaches villagers to plant hydroponically, so that people can still take advantage of their yards, despite the lack of soil planting media,” he added.

Syarifudin hopes that the villagers can practice horticultural planting in their homes, by utilizing their yards.
