UIN Jakarta Collaborates with Five Jakarta Universities in AI Training for Academics in Greater Jakarta

Jakarta, UIN News Online — In an effort to enhance academic capacity in digital technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta collaborated with five universities in DKI Jakarta Province to conduct AI training. The training took place at Building C, Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia, on Saturday (May 10, 2025).

The five universities involved in the collaboration, along with the Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI), include Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia, Pancasila University, Budi Luhur University, National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta, and UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.

Carrying the theme “Enhancing Academic Competence in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” the training was attended by lecturers from each university. It aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of AI applications in higher education and to foster cross-campus collaboration in technological and learning innovation.

Dr. phil. Lisa Esti Puji Hartanti, the event chair and host from Atma Jaya, emphasized the importance of synergy among Jakarta's higher education institutions in facing modern challenges.

“This training not only expands academics' insights on AI but also serves as an initial step in building a collaborative ecosystem across campuses for AI development in academia,” she stated.

The event featured several expert speakers, including Dr. Ir. Lukas, MAI, CISA (Chair of the Indonesia AI Society - IAIS), Big Data Analyst Dr. Yerik Afrianto, and lecturers from the collaborating universities who have undergone intensive AI training. Around 50 lecturers participated, demonstrating high enthusiasm for integrating AI into the academic world.

Lecturers who served as speakers and facilitators included:

One participant, Gustiana Sabarina, S.Pd., M.I.Kom., a lecturer in the Information Science Program at FISIP UPNVJ, shared her experience:
“This training was an invaluable experience that encouraged us to keep up with technological developments. The AI content greatly supports us in fulfilling the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. The program was engaging and not boring—I hope such training continues with new and relevant topics.”

She emphasized that such training is highly relevant to the needs of today’s academics, who must remain critical, creative, and adaptive in facing technological advances, particularly in teaching, research, and community service.

It is hoped that this initiative will better prepare academics to integrate AI into the curriculum and teaching process, enabling them to respond innovatively to the challenges of the Industrial Revolution 5.0.
