Mahmud Yunus Theater, UIN Online News — The Education Management Study Program at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held a seminar titled "The Art of Public Speaking: Contemporary Effective Communication in Organizations" to support young people in organizational settings. Attended by over 100 participants, the seminar took place at the Mahmud Yunus Theater of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training Sciences (FITK) on Friday (July 11, 2025).

The speaker was the Founder of KAHFI BBC Motivator School, Dr. Tubagus Wahyudi, ST., M.Si., MCht., MCHI. He is a postgraduate lecturer at the Institute of Higher Education for Qur'anic Studies (PTIQ) Jakarta and has extensive experience in providing public speaking training in various fields, including education.

Also present were Vice Dean for General Administration of FITK, Yudhi Munadi, S.Ag., M.Ag., Secretary of the Education Management Study Program, Afif Faizin, M.Pd., Lecturer for Organizational Communication in Education Management, Milki Aan, M.Ag., and the event was moderated by Ahmad Musyarofi and Aziza Sulistyawati.

Before diving into the material, the Founder of KAHFI BBC Motivator School gave participants the opportunity to ask questions about the public speaking challenges they face. This was to ensure that the provided material could offer solutions to students' various public speaking problems.

Fakhrurrozi, an education management student, asked how to master material well for public speaking. The speaker conveyed that to master material well for public speaking, calmness is needed when speaking. This calmness begins with self-awareness. According to him, the most important thing in public speaking is not just mastering the material, but also how that material can be delivered and benefit the audience.

Furthermore, the speaker provided important points in public speaking by emphasizing the 3Es (Ethics, Etiquette, and Aesthetics) or 3Bs (Good, Right, and Excellent). "The meaning of 3Es and 3Bs is that before speaking, one needs to ensure the information is correct, the material is delivered in a good manner, and it is excellent, meaning it provides benefits to the audience," explained the speaker.

In this seminar, the speaker also explained oral communication, starting with the voice in public speaking. Participants were given direct examples of vocal artistry, including reporters, narrators, promotion voices, news anchors, and news broadcasters. The speaker concluded the presentation by stating that public speaking does not only depend on the material to be delivered but also on one's thoughts.

"The thoughts in our brains will form ideas that then influence one's soul. Therefore, from now on, practice controlling your thoughts because the life we live is a response to our thoughts," said the speaker.

In closing, the Vice Dean for General Administration of FITK stated that public speaking is crucial for education management students to master as future managers in the field of education. She also emphasized that with good communication, one can convey thoughts effectively and and efficiently. For this reason, FITK needs to facilitate its students, as future teachers, to delve deeper into communication science as a skill for teaching.
