Supported by BAKTI Digital Communication, FST UIN Jakarta Officially Launches Saintek Hub

FST Building, UIN Online News — The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta officially inaugurated the Saintek Hub space on the ground floor of the faculty building on Wednesday morning (April 16, 2025). This co-working space was established with support from the Telecommunications and Information Accessibility Agency (BAKTI) of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Technology (Kominfo RI) as FST UIN Jakarta's strategic partner.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by leadership from both BAKTI Kominfo and UIN Jakarta, including BAKTI's Director General Dr. Fadhilah Mathar, UIN Jakarta's Vice Rector for Cooperation Din Wahid, M.A., Ph.D., Vice Rector for General Administration Prof. Dr. Imam Subchi, M.A., and FST Dean Husni Teja Sukmana S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D.

In his opening remarks, Dean Husni Tedja expressed appreciation for BAKTI Kominfo's support that made Saintek Hub possible. "We extend our highest appreciation to BAKTI Kominfo for their full support in establishing Saintek Hub," he said.

He explained that Saintek Hub will significantly support productive activities within FST, including academic capacity building and collaboration networks. "BAKTI Kominfo's support will have a major impact on productivity development within UIN Jakarta's FST environment," he added.

Specifically, Dean Husni acknowledged BAKTI Kominfo's ongoing support, which has included involving FST UIN Jakarta in evaluating Base Transceiver Station (BTS) telecommunications infrastructure, strengthening internet access, and enhancing digital literacy for UIN Jakarta's academic community and the public.

Meanwhile, Director General Fadhilah Mathar stated that supporting Saintek Hub's development at FST UIN Jakarta is part of BAKTI Kominfo's efforts to strengthen higher education's three pillars of duty (tridharma). "We hope this support can continue to enhance the academic environment at FST UIN Jakarta," she added.

Director General Fadhilah further explained that supporting Saintek Hub's development also strengthens BAKTI Kominfo's partnerships in promoting digital literacy. She emphasized that strengthening literacy requires collaborative partners, especially in this digital era.

Looking ahead, Director General Fadhilah revealed BAKTI Kominfo's plans to expand internet access to Papua and other remote areas. For this initiative, she stated they would welcome opportunities for FST's academic community to propose collaborative research with BAKTI Kominfo's support.

Vice Rector for Cooperation Din Wahid appreciated Saintek Hub's development and positively viewed its slogan "Great Ideas, Start Here." He believes this slogan reflects high hopes for the space to become a center for new innovations from the university.

"May Saintek Hub encourage the emergence of creative and positive ideas for developing academic traditions and networks within FST UIN Jakarta," he said.

Furthermore, Vice Rector Din Wahid acknowledged the positive partnership between BAKTI Kominfo, UIN Jakarta, and various faculties within the university. He hopes this cooperation can continue to strengthen through strategic program implementations.

Vice Rector for General Administration Imam Subchi also supported the collaborative partnership between FST UIN Jakarta and BAKTI Kominfo through Saintek Hub and other cooperative programs. "May Saintek Hub become a birthplace for brilliant ideas and a space for technological innovation among UIN Jakarta's younger generation," he hoped.

Separately, Rector Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar M.A., Ph.D. also appreciated Saintek Hub's development. He stated that Saintek Hub serves as a positive medium to encourage creative ideas from FST UIN Jakarta's academic community, particularly students.

"Hopefully spaces like this can continue to be added so that creative ideas from lecturers, students, and other academic community members can be further encouraged," he hoped.

According to FST UIN Jakarta's official release, Saintek Hub is a multifunctional collaborative space designed to support academic and innovation ecosystems within FST UIN Jakarta. Equipped with modern co-working space facilities, Saintek Hub provides high-speed internet access, smart screens for presentations, collaborative work tables, and casual discussion spaces that enable cross-disciplinary interaction.

The space features an open and inspirational design, making it an ideal place for students, lecturers, and external partners to exchange ideas, develop research projects, and create science-based technological innovations. Beyond being a co-working space, it's designed as a mini technology incubator that will host various technological initiatives from FST students and lecturers. In the future, the space is expected to become a center for strategic activities including training sessions, technology seminars, and campus startup incubation programs.
