For Applicants Unsuccessful in SPAN PTKIN, UIN Jakarta Offers Alternative Through UM-PTKIN
Rectorate Building, UIN Online News – Prospective students who were unsuccessful in the National Academic Achievement Selection for State Islamic Higher Education Institutions (SPAN-PTKIN) pathway for admission to Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta need not despair. All study programs offered through SPAN-PTKIN will also be available in the State Islamic Higher Education Entrance Examination (UM-PTKIN) pathway starting April 22.
This announcement was made by Zaenal Muttaqin, Head of the Information and Public Relations Center at UIN Jakarta's Research and Community Service Institute (LP2M), on Thursday (4/3/2025). "Students and Islamic boarding school graduates who weren't successful or eligible for SPAN-PTKIN shouldn't lose heart, as UM-PTKIN still offers excellent opportunities," he stated.
The UM-PTKIN registration period, he explained, will open on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 8:00 AM Western Indonesia Time (WIB) and close on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 3:00 PM WIB. This pathway offers the same 30 study programs as SPAN-PTKIN:

Zaenal noted that acceptance chances through UM-PTKIN may be higher than SPAN-PTKIN, as UIN Jakarta offers 2,856 new student seats – significantly more than SPAN-PTKIN's 1,236 quota.
Registration will be conducted online via the national committee's admission portal (https://um.ptkin.ac.id/). The examination will be administered offline at selected PTKIN test locations using the Electronic Selection System (SSE) for both test questions and answer sheets.
General Requirements
The UM-PTKIN pathway can be taken by students from nearly all educational institutions. These include Islamic Senior High Schools (Madrasah Aliyah), General Senior High Schools, Vocational High Schools, Formal Islamic Education Institutions, Islamic Boarding School Equivalency Programs, Mu'adalah Muallimin, Mu'adalah Salafiyah, or equivalent graduates from 2023, 2024, and 2025.
Additionally, participants must have a National Student Identification Number (NISN), an active and accessible email address, and an active WhatsApp number. Participants must register independently on the website https://um.ptkin.ac.id.
Participants must pay a registration fee of IDR 200,000 through banks designated by the National Committee. Registration fees that have been paid cannot be refunded for any reason.
In this exam, participants can choose a maximum of 3 (three) Study Programs at PTKIN/State Universities. Participants can also choose PTKIN/State Universities as their Examination Location.
For the exam material itself, the UM-PTKIN pathway will test four types of material: Academic Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, Mathematical Reasoning, Reading Literacy, and Islamic Teachings Literacy. Each reasoning test is designed to measure prospective students' potential from academic, verbal, mathematical thinking, reading comprehension, and breadth of Islamic knowledge perspectives. (zm)
