Faculty of Medicine UIN Jakarta Strengthens Collaboration with Tohoku University

Faculty of Medicine, UIN News Online — UIN Jakarta has strengthened its collaboration with Tohoku University on Thursday (07/08/2024). This meeting aims to reinforce the partnership between Tohoku University and UIN Jakarta, which has been ongoing since 2016.

The meeting began with remarks from the Vice Rector for Cooperation and Institutional Affairs, Din Wahid, M.A., Ph.D., who stated that this gathering is intended to strengthen the collaboration with Tohoku University, which is expected to continue for the advancement of the medical field.

The Director of the International Exchange Office at Tohoku University, Professor Oshitani, accompanied by Assistant Professor Mariko Saito Obata, Ph.D., from the Department of Virology at the Tohoku University Graduate School of Medicine, expressed that this form of cooperation will foster good relationships between universities and countries. The meeting aimed to introduce the profiles and objectives of both UIN Jakarta and Tohoku University in Japan.

drg. Laifa Annisa Hendarmin, Ph.D., the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation at the Faculty of Medicine, along with dr. Fika Ekayanti, M. Med. Ed., the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. dr. Erika Anggraini Suwarsono, M.Pd., Sp.M.K., the Vice Dean for General Administration, and dr. Marita Fadhillah, Dr. Med. Sc., the Head of the Medical Study Program also participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, drg. Laifa explained that the meeting was held because the Faculty of Medicine at UIN Jakarta, along with the Faculty of Health Sciences, will be hosting a conference on health in the upcoming activities. Additionally, UIN Jakarta will send two student delegates to Japan as representatives for the Student Exchange program, following a visit by UIN Jakarta staff to Japan representing the Faculty of Medicine in October 2023.

After the presentations and a visit to the Faculty of Medicine at UIN Jakarta, the meeting continued to RSUP Fatmawati to directly observe the medical facilities at RSUP Fatmawati, which has already established a partnership with UIN Jakarta. This visit served as a preliminary step in the collaboration, as Tohoku University plans to send representatives to work with RSUP Fatmawati.

This meeting is expected to mark the beginning of a sustained and deepened collaboration between UIN Jakarta and Tohoku University.
