Divided by Region, United by Religion: Rector of UIN Jakarta Wishes Eid Mubarak for Indonesian Muslims

Rectorate Building, UIN Online News - Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, MA, Ph.D., the Rector of Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta, sent his Eid al-Fitr wishes for 1 Shawwal 1446 Hijriyyah to all Muslims in Indonesia.

"For this year, Eid al-Fitr is a significant moment for us since we had successfully observed fasting and given zakat. Thanks to His blessing, we are able to commemorate Eid al-Fitr collectively, demonstrating the unity and solidarity of Muslims in Indonesia,” he expressed.

Prof. Asep conveyed a sense of melancholy at the conclusion of Ramadan, despite the expected enthusiasm for Eid al-Fitr. Only for this golden month, most of our sins will be forgiven, and our deeds will be replete with grace.

"Everything will come to an end and I undoubtedly miss this moment. Therefore, may the principles of our virtue that we have embraced during Ramadan persist in the ensuing months," he hoped.

Consequently, the Rector of UIN Jakarta urged all Muslims to make the most of Eid al-Fitr in fortifying social connections, elevating communal consciousness, and perpetuating the ethos of unity among people. This moment serves to uphold the ideals of Ramadan, including integrity, patience, and compassion.

After the Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (Menag RI), Prof. Dr. K.H. Nasaruddin Umar, MA, declared that Eid al-Fitr on 1 Shawwal 1446 H will occur on Monday (31/3/2025), this decision enables the commemoration of Eid al-Fitr by all Muslims in Indonesia.

At the same time, the ruling of Eid al-Fitr 1446 AH by Menag RI aligns with the conclusion of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah, both of which utilized different methods of calculating the moon sighting. This alignment demonstrates religious tolerance and reinforces Islamic brotherhood in Indonesia.

In addition, Asep Saipudin Jahar aspired that the solidarity and collectivity shown this year are memorable. All Muslims, especially in Muslim-majority countries like Indonesia, concurrently honor the Eid al-Fitr festival.

"Let us commemorate Eid al-Fitr with exuberance while being alert and prioritizing our health and that of our family. May Allah bestow blessings upon us all," he concluded.
