Dissemination of Academic Community Publications, LP2M UIN Jakarta Launches Publication of the Week and Citation Strengthening Workshop
UIN Jakarta, UIN News Online — In order to improve the quality and quantity of publications and citations of scientific works of the academic community as well as the launch of the Publication of The Week program, the Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M) UIN Jakarta held a Publication and Citation Improvement Workshop and Launching “Publication of The Week” Monday, (11/11/2024) online through the Zoom platform.
Various materials related to publications were discussed in this workshop, including effective strategies to increase publications and citations in reputable indexed international journals, optimizing the use of publication platforms and online resources to increase the visibility of scientific work, increasing research collaboration to improve the quality and quantity of scientific publications, as well as information about “Publication of The Week,” which was moderated by Dr. Flori Ratna Sari Ph.D. and presented experienced speakers, including Prof. Maila Dinia Husni Rahiem M.A., Ph.D., and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nur Rianto Al Arif M.Si.
It was opened by the Head of LP2M UIN Jakarta, Prof. Amelia Fauzia Ph.D., who in her presentation explained that, currently LP2M has consent in an effort to increase publications and citations. “This workshop is one way for Mr. and Mrs. leaders and the academic community of UIN Jakarta to contribute in the field of research and increase publications and citations,” explained Prof. Amel.
In line with Prof. Amelia, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Dr. H. Ahmad Tholabi Kharlie, S.Ag., S.H., M.H., M.A., also welcomed this activity. According to him, this activity is very useful in improving the reputation of the institution. “Publications and citations are two things that are important components in institutional reputation,” he said.
Prof. Maila Dinia Husni Rahiem M.A., Ph.D., on this occasion said that UIN Jakarta's overall score performance is in a competitive range among domestic and international institutions. She emphasized that UIN Jakarta has entered the world rankings. “UIN Jakarta has become a world class university, and we should be proud of that,” she added.
However, Prof. Maila regretted that there are still fields that have low publication even though their publications are in high demand. Therefore, she encouraged the faculty to address this issue. “We have to open the report card one by one so that the faculty can look at it according to this value,” she said.
In an effort to improve the quality of publications, Prof. Maila conveyed several things that she thought were important to underline. The choice of relevant and current topics is important, according to her, things that are more contemporary will be sought after and have more citations. In addition, collaboration with international researchers can also be an opportunity to increase citation visibility. Then, Prof. Maila discussed the quality of writing. According to her, the opportunity for articles to be accepted in reputable journals lies in the quality of good writing. For this reason, she suggested optimizing writing resources with professional assistance for the editing process to comply with international standards.
Furthermore, Prof. Maila also highlighted the importance of publication in open journals to increase citations due to greater access opportunities. Then, distribution through online platforms and promotion on academic social media, “promotion on academic social media such as LinkedIn and platforms such as Researchgate, Google Scholar is very helpful in increasing the citation of our research,” she emphasized.
