Director of P2EKS: Building a Halal Ecosystem as a Strategy to Make Indonesia as the World Halal Center

Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN News Online - Director of Center for Sharia Economic and Financial Development (P2EKS) UIN Jakarta Prof. Dr. Euis Amalia. M. Ag., emphasized the importance of building an integrated halal ecosystem to make Indonesia the world's halal center. This statement was delivered at the “UIN Jakarta Halal Fair” event on Thursday (9/19/2024). It is known that the event took place at the Harun Nasution Auditorium for two days, from Thursday (19/9/2024) to Friday (20/9/2024).

The event began with remarks from the director of P3JPH, Dr. Sandra hermanto M.Si., who expressed her hope that this event could increase public awareness about the importance of choosing halal products. In addition, he also emphasized the importance of strengthening the halal product assurance ecosystem which involves various parties, including the government and business actors. Then continued by the preface by the Director of P2EKS, Prof. Dr. Euis Amalia. M. Ag. Followed by the ceremonial opening by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Tholabi S.Ag., S.H., M.H., M.A.

In her speech, Prof. Dr. Euis Amalia. M. Ag., stated that at this time the term halal is very well known in the world. She also explained about the target of Indonesia Emas 2045 as well as making Indonesia the world's halal center.

Furthermore, Prof. Euis outlined the role of Islamic economics in the halal ecosystem. She projected the growth of Islamic banking financing in 2024 to be in the range of 10-12%. This is expected to have a positive impact such as financing for halal businesses, especially in supporting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). “This is very helpful in overcoming the problem of poverty in Indonesia,” he said.

In the 2045 National Long-Term Development Plan (RPJMN), strengthening the Islamic economy and finance is expected to improve the halal industry ecosystem. “The RPJMN shows Indonesia's commitment in developing the halal industry ecosystem,” explained Euis.

Finally, Prof. Euis emphasized the importance of digital strategy transformation and collaboration of elements such as universities, government, and related institutions to accelerate the development of the halal industry ecosystem towards Indonesia as the world's halal center.
