Abdul Halim Ambiya, The Street Preacher from UIN Jakarta
Jakarta, UIN Online News - Among the distinguished and inspirational graduates of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, one name notably stands out: Halim Ambiya, a Muslim preacher and the founder of Pondok Tasawuf Underground.
Abdul Halim Ambiya is a graduate of the Aqidah Philosophy Study Program at the Faculty of Ushuluddin of UIN Jakarta.
For over twenty years, this man has devoted his life to mentoring and supporting street youths, punk communities, and other marginalized groups in discovering their spiritual journeys, making him known as "The Street Preacher"
He established Pondok Tasawuf Underground in 2012, a Muslim community that teaches Islamic Mysticism (Sufism) via social media and offers refuge for those who belongs to the street.
Unlike any other preachers who hold their sermons at mosques, he often visits very uncommon places like the underpass of bridge, station, terminal, and gathering spots crowded with underground people.
Because he had empowered several marginal individuals through his earnestness in social campaigning, he was nominated with the People and Inspiration Awards 2022 in the Education Category.
Halim Ambiya is an enduring source of inspiration, demonstrating that preaching is not just words but also followed by acts. He believes that everyone has a right to embrace their true self, and he will guide them along their life-changing journey.
