UIN Jakarta Green Campus Initiative
A Three-Pronged Approach to Waste Reduction
At the heart of this initiative lies the strategic deployment of three distinct waste bins across the campus:
- Organic Waste Bin: Designed to collect biodegradable waste such as food scraps, leaves, and paper, this bin promotes composting and reduces the amount of organic material sent to landfills.
- Recyclable Waste Bin: This bin is designated for recyclable materials like plastic bottles, aluminum cans, and paper. By segregating recyclable waste, the university facilitates efficient recycling processes and minimizes the demand for virgin resources.
- General Waste Bin: This bin is reserved for non-recyclable and non-biodegradable waste that cannot be recycled or composted. By limiting the amount of waste in this bin, the university aims to reduce the overall volume of waste sent to landfills.
and UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta is committed to sustainability. The university recently held an Eco-Enzyme workshop to teach the community about making eco-friendly cleaning solutions from organic waste. This initiative aligns with the university's goal of creating a greener campus and promoting sustainable practices.
