Dila Lutfia Savira Captivates Audience at UIN Jakarta’s 133rd Graduation Ceremony

Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN News Online – The atmosphere at UIN Jakarta’s 133rd graduation ceremony on Sunday, August 25, 2024, was both celebratory and deeply moving. Among the many proud graduates, one moment stood out—a heartfelt performance by Dila Lutfia Savira, a visually impaired student from the Social Welfare Study Program, Faculty of Da’wah and Communication Sciences (FDIKOM).

Dila, who is currently in her third semester, walked confidently onto the stage, her presence commanding the attention of everyone in the room. As she began to speak, her voice soft yet clear, a hush fell over the auditorium. “Congratulations to all of you who have graduated today. You have gone through a journey of studying with difficulty and also full of memories,” she began, her words resonating with the graduates and their families.

Then, as the music started, Dila’s voice soared, filling the auditorium with the soulful notes of Sal Priadi’s “Gala Bunga Matahari” and Ysabelle Cuevas’ “I Like You So Much, You’ll Know It.” Her performance was more than just a display of talent; it was a powerful testament to resilience and determination, a moment that touched the hearts of all who witnessed it.

Dila’s journey with music began in her childhood, but it wasn’t until 2020 that she started to take her passion seriously, teaching herself through online tutorials. “Learning to sing by myself and following my idols made me more confident to perform,” she shared. Despite the challenges she faces as a visually impaired student, Dila has pursued her dreams with unwavering dedication.

Her performance was not just a highlight of the graduation ceremony; it was a reminder of the strength of the human spirit. Dila acknowledged that while UIN Jakarta has been a supportive environment, there is still work to be done in making the campus more accessible. “The environment here is quite supportive, although accessibility for disabilities still needs to be improved,” she said, voicing her hopes for a more inclusive future.

Among the audience was Mutiara Chantika Azizah, Dila’s close friend, who watched with pride and emotion. “It was a feeling of emotion and pride to see Dila perform on stage. This is a clear example of the extraordinary spirit and determination of students in pursuing higher education,” she said, her voice filled with admiration.

The Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Tholabi, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing UIN Jakarta’s commitment to supporting all students, regardless of their challenges. “The campus will continue to strive to showcase all student potential, both in academic and non-academic fields,” he stated.

Nadya Kharima, Dila’s mentor and a lecturer from the Social Welfare Study Program, expressed her joy at seeing Dila’s talent recognized. “As her lecturer, I am happy that Dila is given space to express herself. And with Dila's presence, I hope it will be a form of UIN’s appreciation for all students, making UIN a more inclusive university,” she said.

In every note that Dila sang, there was a message—a melody of courage and hope that left an indelible mark on the hearts of everyone present.
